SPIRIT OF COLLABORATION AND GIVING BACK
FUEL GRAPHIC DESIGN TEAMS DURING
ALL-NIGHT MAKEOVER OF SB NONPROFITS

(April 19, 2016) Moreno Valley, CA – DESIGN FOR GOOD San Bernardino County is a wrap!  Twenty-one graphic design majors from Cal State San Bernardino and Arts Institute of California Inland Empire packed computer labs at CSUSB on Saturday and Sunday, collaborating in teams to provide branding makeovers for four worthy San Bernardino county nonprofits.  A labor of love, participants donated more than $20,000 in pro bono services aimed at fueling greater social impact.  A Reveal Event, when design team solutions are unveiled for the first time, is scheduled for Thursday, May 5th from 7:00-9:00pm at Apple Valley Chamber of Commerce, 16010 Apple Valley Road, Apple Valley CA 92307 in High Desert.

DESIGN FOR GOOD, a 24hr event, began Saturday morning with the directors of The Orenda Foundation, Family Assistance Program, Women of Noble Character and High Desert Homeless Services, Inc. giving an overview to teams of their social missions and future outreach goals.  Design critiques were lead by professionals Shane Michael of Mittun and Robert Silent Thunder as well as CSUSB and AIIE faculty members Frank Houlihan, Andrew Oakes and Adrienne Martin.  In round-the-clock production sessions, teams presented sketches and rough drafts until final art was submitted at 8:30am on Sunday.

Portions of DESIGN FOR GOOD were live streamed over Periscope to allow spectators a sneak peek of the design process.  Event partners included AIGA chapters in Los Angeles and Orange County, Arts Connection the Arts Council of San Bernardino County, Academy for Grassroots Organizations, Taproot Foundation, a pro bono service advocate in Los Angeles, High Desert Community Foundation and The Community Foundation of Riverside and San Bernardino County.  Small donations to support ongoing design-a-thons in the region are being collected on Generosity.com at: bit.ly/1TdNMAD.
