D4G Riverside Gears up!

DESIGN FOR GOOD CHALLENGE RECRUITS UP-AND-COMING DESIGNERS TO LIFT RIVERSIDE COUNTY NON-PROFIT

(October 5, 2016) Moreno Valley, CA – So, you’re doing great work – fighting poverty, homelessness and discrimination -- yet nobody knows about it?  What do you do? One solution is to take part in the DESIGN FOR GOOD Riverside County 24hr marathon, which runs from Saturday thru Sunday October 22-23rd.  Twenty design students from local art colleges will donate over $20,000 in pro bono services to expand awareness of worthy community programs and causes.  The designers’ final work will be unveiled to their assigned nonprofit during a Reveal Event open to the public in early December.

DESIGN FOR GOOD is a project of Arts4Good and is being hosted by Cal Baptist University College of Architecture, Visual Arts and Design, 8432 Magnolia Avenue Riverside CA 92504.  The four nonprofits selected to participate include The Fair Housing Council of Riverside County, working for equity in real estate practices; Voices for Children of Riverside County, providing court-appointed advocates to foster youth; Axis Foundation, offering music and financial literacy classes for teens; and Childhood Cancer Foundation of Southern California, offering emotional, social, educational and emergency assistance to families.

In April, four nonprofits took part in DESIGN FOR GOOD San Bernardino County.  Those groups included High Desert Homeless Services a family-based shelter, Women of Noble Character, providing food services, Family Assistance Program, a multi-service agency with a new anti-human trafficking initiative, and The Orenda Foundation with shelter for homeless veterans.  Each group received design collateral that will be used to jump start efforts to attract new donors, volunteers and media attention – which in turn should bring additional resources to serve needy families.
