Women of Noble Character, a ministry of The Next Generation Worship Center in Victorville, began as a group of women meeting to pray for each other and fellowship. That collective goodwill morphed into monthly garage giveaways, the collection of donations and quickly giving them away. Soon after, the Share Food Program was borne with the group distributing monthly prepaid food packages to community members along with whatever else was needed by community members, including clothing.
Quickly, Share Food Program began distributing packaged home-cooked meals. Through the encouragement of clients, they acquired a location in an area of great need. The new space allowed the group to consolidate its food and clothing services and give easier access to the community. Share Food Program began as dinner one night per week as well as time for those in need to receive free clothing, hygiene products and blankets.
Through the development of A Meal A Day Coalition, comprised of individuals and other ministries, Share Food Program has grown to serve the community dinner 4-6 nights a week. In addition, from its donations, the organization purchases sleeping bags and tents, makes referrals for housing, partners with local dentists to offer free dental work. Most recently, the agency distributed over 1,400 toys, helping over 400 families for Christmas.
The group is always in need of clothing, coats, hats, gloves, socks, shoes, hygiene products, blankets, sleeping bags, and tents. For more information on Women of Noble Character, go to their website: http://www.womenofnoblecharacter.org/
