D4G Returns to San Bernardino

DESIGN FOR GOOD CHALLENGE RECRUITS UP-AND-COMING DESIGNERS TO LIFT SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY NON-PROFITS

(February 10, 2017) Moreno Valley, CA – You’re doing great work – fighting poverty, homelessness and discrimination -- yet nobody knows about it?  What to do? One solution is DESIGN FOR GOOD San Bernardino County, a 24hr design marathon running from Saturday thru Sunday, April 8-9th.  DESIGN FOR GOOD is a project of Arts4Good and will take place at The Art Institute of California - Inland Empire, a campus of Argosy University, 674 E Brier Drive, San Bernardino, CA 92408.  Graphic design students from Cal State San Bernardino and The Art Institute of California - Inland Empire will donate over $20,000 in pro bono services to expand awareness of worthy community programs and causes.

The four nonprofits selected to participate are A Core Solution, providing families with utility assistance, financial literacy, and life coaching in the High Desert; CASA of San Bernardino connecting foster youth with advocates to help them maneuver the court system as well as life; Reach Out, an Upland-based nonprofit with successful programs that support stronger families and awareness of health careers; Santa Claus, Inc. provides clothing and services that empower San Bernardino county families during Christmas time and throughout the year. The designers’ final work will be unveiled to nonprofits during a festive Reveal Event during San Bernardino Art Night taking place on April 21-22nd.

Last October, four nonprofits took part in DESIGN FOR GOOD Riverside County.  Groups benefiting included Fair Housing Council of Riverside County, Childhood Cancer Foundation of Southern California, Voices for Children of Riverside County, and Axis Foundation.  Each group received design collateral that will be used to jump start efforts to attract new donors, volunteers and media attention – which in turn should bring additional resources to serve needy families.  DESIGN FOR GOOD is a national movement initiated by the design guild AIGA (aiga.org), seeking to ignite design-driven social change.
